Treacherous Roads

Treacherous Roads

Myself lessons be damned
life is a fear trap
trapped and breaking free, a salamander gulping its tail.

Walking tenebrous dirt roads at night
Sounds dart
From forgotten lumber
which will fall
in towards one.
The fall bends
towards the road
ebbing away from eyes
and towards the coastline
one can never decry.
The water, I am sure
is treacherous on dirt roads at night.

Sauntering is better, even if forced
clinking the brink of dismay
ascending in towards one.
The fall bends
begin to run, coupled knees, slighter feet.
The road is still dark.
Day never creeps up
and surprises
it crests and wanes
along the endless road.
